LMIA-Exemptions

Canada offers specific programs known as International Mobility Programs (IMP), under which foreign nationals are exempt from a Labor Market Impact Assessment.

A work permit will be issued if a foreign national’s employment will have broader economic, cultural, or other competitive advantages for Canada.

Foreign Nationals who need a work permit (senior managers, executives and individuals with specialized knowledge) may obtain it only after the prospective employer has submitted a job offer to the IRCC.

LIMA exemptions:

  • International agreements
  • Canadian Interests
  • No other means of support
  • Permannet resident applicants in Canada
  • Humintarian reasons
