Self-employed Persons Program

This program is designed for those who have experience in the cultural activities of athletics and are willing to make a significant contribution to the cultural or athletic life of Canada.

A self-employed person is a foreign national who has relevant experience and has the intention and ability to be self-employed in Canada and to make a significant contribution to the cultural activities of athletics or the purchase and management of a farm in Canada.

“Relevant” experience means at least two years of experience during the 5 years before the day you apply. Applicants will be assessed based on experience, education, age, language abilities and adaptability.

You will be assessed on your experience on:

  • education
  • age
  • language abilities
  • adaptability

Just like other programs, this is a program based on a point system that assigns points to each category. The maximum possible score is 100 points, however, the minimum you may receive is 35 points.
